House prices rise 1.2% in January 2010

01 Feb 2010

With reports of a 1.2% rise in house prices in January this year, vendors are more optimistic about house sales – in Knutsford and indeed nationwide.

Jim Barber, director of JB Property Solutions - a company offering cash for houses in Knutsford, Cheshire and the North West – comments on this increase.

“The latest increase is more than double the 0.5% rise we experienced in December 2009 and it is predicted that unless there is a fall in house prices during February, annual house inflation is likely to move into double digits again for the first time since May 2007.”

“There was some concern expressed that prices would fall in the new year and first quarter after people rushed to complete transactions before the stamp duty holiday on lower priced properties, which ended in December.”

So how does the price increase impact upon those considering cash for houses in Knutsford? “Naturally the rise will be reflected in the prices we offer on houses for cash in Knutsford,” reassures Barber. “It’s a national trend that will have bearing on house sales in Knutsford and the North West. In providing a fair price in offering cash for your house in Knutsford, we are obliged to take into account market fluctuations and offer purchase prices accordingly.”

“It’s worth remembering that the housing market relies heavily upon how well the economy performs over the months ahead,” Barber concludes.
